Testing eBay Make Up Products
I know some people are very against purchasing make up products on eBay as there are a lot of fake products and you don't always know what ingredients are in the products. For this reason, I didn't purchase products such as mascara, eyeliner, foundation or concealer and I didn't purchase any replicas or fake products. I love a bargain so I thought I would give some of these super affordable products a try and let you all know my thoughts! All of these products are under £5 and they are all currently available on eBay.
Technic Eyebrow Gel - Black - £1.89
For those of you who don't know, I am naturally blonde but I dye my hair black / purple or black / blue so I need to colour my eyebrows in everyday! I love using coloured brow gels because they are so quick and easy to use and I think they look very natural for everyday use. I've tried a lot of brow gels and I have to say, this is one of my favourites. The brow gel is pigmented and easy to apply - the brush is small enough to be precise but it isn't too small that it takes ages to fill them in. I find that this brow gel keeps my eyebrows in place all day and doesn't smudge. I was slightly concerned about the black shade (which is actually quite difficult to find in most brands) because I thought it might make my eyebrows look like they were drawn on with a sharpie but it actually still looks natural and it's great when I have freshly dyed hair.
Focallure Face Mineral Pigment Blusher - #3 - £1.56
In all honesty, I don't think you can go too wrong with blusher and I think that often, the really affordable blushers are just as good as the high end ones. This is no exception - it is a nice, lightly pigmented blusher that is easy to blend out and doesn't make my fair skin look like a clown. The compact is actually very sturdy and looks quite expensive and sleek, especially considering the price! It doesn't kick up much powder at all when you swirl or tap your brush in it and it doesn't look patchy at all on my skin. I like the shade #3 for pale skin and I would definitely be interested in picking up a few more shades! This did come from China so if you are ordering it, be aware that it will take a few weeks to arrive.
QiBest Matte Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick - #15 - £1.07
I've found with liquid lipsticks, especially with affordable ones, often the darker shades are patchy and unwearable. This one definitely isn’t the most pigmented liquid lipstick I’ve tried, so it does need to be built up with a few layers, however it builds nicely and doesn’t look patchy or flaky. If you wore a lip liner underneath, it would be completely opaque. It has a very thin formula, which feels very liquidy and has a slight chemical scent when applying but the scent soon goes. It takes about 5 minutes to dry down matte and it doesn’t feel drying on the lips at all but it is a bit sticky. It is actually very transfer proof and pretty long wearing, and the shade looks lovely if you like a more gothic look! Overall, this liquid lipstick is really good for the price and I’d definitely pick this up in a few more shades.
Yurily Let It Glow Highlighting Powder - £2.69
I wasn't sure what to expect from a cheap highlighter, although I have purchased the Technic highlighter off eBay in the past and that's amazing quality for a similar price. This highlighter really surprised me! It gives a lovely sheen without being too glittery and I don't think it's too intense or too subtle. It's a great highlighter for everyday use and it's a lovely shade on pale skin. It's an icy white with a hint of pink which is one of my favourite shades of highlighter. It does kick up a little bit of powder when you swirl your brush in it, but no more than a lot of other highlighters I have. Again, the packaging feels nice and sturdy, which surprised me for the price. I find myself reaching for this highlighter quite often for my everyday make up. This is a great eBay find in my opinion!
W7 Awol Lip Colour Remover - £1.98
So I’ve got a few liquid lipsticks, specifically red and purple shades, that can really stain my lips and are so difficult to get off, so I thought I would try this product, seeing as it’s so affordable. The formula of this surprised me, as it’s a thick gel like balm, which glides onto your lips and feels very moisturising. I squeezed some product out and applied it to my lips with my finger, then wiped the colour away with a cotton wool pad. This product did exactly what it said it would - removed all the colour! It left my lips feeling moisturised afterwards and all of the colour was gone! It has a slight scent, which to me, smells like shea butter and is very pleasant. Very impressed by this product and would definitely recommend it!
12pcs Kabuki Make Up Brush Set - £2.99
I know a lot of people don't like cheap make up brush sets because they can sometimes shed hairs or not be overly high quality, however, I've purchased a lot of cheap brushes in my time and I've found some great products! These are no exception - I like to change up the colours of my eyeshadows most days, doing green tones one day and purple the next, and I usually wash my brushes once a month, so I need a wide variety of eyeshadow brushes. This is a good mixture of brushes and I haven't found that they shed at all. They have good quality handles and they haven't fallen apart just yet! For £2.99 for 12 brushes, you can't really go wrong!
Technic Colour Fix Bronzer Palette - £3.99
This is one product that I tried from eBay that I'm not overly impressed with. It's not a bad product, but for pale skin, I would not recommend this one. The shades in the palette are quite similar and they are very warm toned and too dark for my skin. The quality of the powders isn't bad, but they are quite powdery and I find it difficult to wear any of them. I have used some of the lighter shades as peachy toned blushers and they've worked well for that, but I don't think I could use any of these shades as a bronzer on my skin tone. If you aren't as pasty white as me, you might like this product! The packaging is sturdy and it is super affordable, but it just doesn't work for me personally.
(swatches from left to right are the Yurily highlighter, Focallure blusher and three shades from the Technic bronzer palette)
