New Maui Moisture Hair Products - Review
I was walking around Boots yesterday and I noticed a new stand containing 'Maui Moisture' hair products - a brand I had not heard of before but the bright colours caught my eye! All of the products retail for £8.99 so they are not a super affordable brand but they are also not a high end brand. Boots are now stocking 5 varieties of Maui Moisture products:
- Thicken & Restore (Bamboo Fibre)
- Curl Quench (Coconut Oil)
- Strength & Anti-Breakage (Agave)
- Revive & Hydrate (Shea Butter)
- Nourish & Moisture (Coconut Milk)
In each of these varieties, there are 3 products (excluding Curl Quench which has 4 products) available. To be honest, I was interested in all of the varieties, but I smelt them all and the Nourish & Moisture (Coconut Milk) products smelt AMAZING so I had to pick them up. The 3 products in this range includes a shampoo, a conditioner and an oil mist. I was disappointed that there was not a hair mask available in this range (as with the other ranges) so I hope they bring one out at some point because I love a good hair mask!
All of the Maui Moisture products are vegan friendly and free from sulphates, silicone and artificial colours. They claim to be different to other products in the way that their products contain a unique blend of 100% pure Aloe Vera Juice as their main ingredient and the scents are inspired by the Hawaiian Island, Maui - hence the name. If you look at the place of manufacturer, you will realise that it is actually created by the brand OGX.
For the particular products that I purchased, the Nourish & Moisture (Coconut Milk) variety, it contains Aloe Vera Juice, Coconut Water, Creamy Coconut Milk, Light Guava Oil and Wholesome Mango Butter. It claims to add gentle hydration to your hair without the residue. As I said, this smells AMAZING - like a Pina Colada crossed with a tropical island. If you like tropical scents, you will LOVE this!
Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture Coconut Milk Shampoo - 385ml - £8.99
This shampoo has quite a thick consistency and you don't need to use a massive amount! I have thick, long hair and it lathered up quickly and enough to wash my hair without using half the bottle. It truly does smell incredible and the scent filled the bathroom. It rinsed out quickly and left my hair feeling soft, even without using the conditioner! The bottle is slightly square, making it easy to squeeze the product out of and the top shuts securely. I also love the colour of this variety's bottles, but the actual product is clear.
Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture Coconut Milk Conditioner - 385ml - £8.99
In comparison to the shampoo, this actually has quite a thin consistency for a conditioner - not too thin, but I expected it to be thicker. Again, I didn't need to use a lot of product to cover all of my hair, which is fab because it means the products will last a while! I left the conditioner in my hair, through my roots and the lengths of my hair for a few minutes and it rinsed out relatively easily. It left my hair feeling super soft and silky and it did feel hydrated! These products do claim to detangle hair - my hair gets quite knotty and tangled and it is dry at the ends, so I was hoping this product would work miracles! It did make my hair easier to brush through, but it did still have some knots. My hair does not feel heavy at all, so I agree with their claim that it doesn't leave residue behind, as some products do.
Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture Coconut Milk Oil Mist - 125ml - £8.99
After washing my hair with the shampoo and conditioner, it would be rude not to use the oil mist too! I do use macadamia oil in my hair religiously (my hair LOVES the stuff) so I didn't use this product alone, but it sprayed nicely onto my hair and didn't leave my hair feeling greasy at all. It smells just as amazing as the shampoo and conditioner and it left my hair feeling super soft. I've tried it on wet and dry hair now and it works just as well on both. I haven't yet tried this in my roots but I don't need hydration on all of my hair, so I just sprayed this onto the length and ends.
So overall, I LOVE this new range of products - mainly based on the heavenly smell, but they are great products too. My hair does feel hydrated from using these products just once and my ends are looking less dry than they usually do. The products did help to detangle my hair to a point and it's left my hair smelling beautiful today. I will definitely be trying some of the other products from this new range and I really hope they bring out a hair mask for this variety! I would definitely recommend trying out this new brand, especially this particular variety if you love coconutty / tropical scents!
